Some head spa beds are very easy to fall in love with from a photo.
The smooth shell, integrated basin and reclining design look modern and premium. It is exactly the kind of equipment that catches attention on Instagram, in a catalog or on a distributor’s website.
But we recently came across a discussion among salon owners using this style of integrated head spa bed, and one practical issue kept coming up: client size.
The interesting part was that the feedback was mixed.
Some owners said the bed worked perfectly well for them and their clients. Others felt similar models were too narrow for larger clients or a little too enclosed for comfort.
That is the kind of real-world detail that can be difficult to see from a factory product photo.
Overall Width Is Not the Same as Usable Width
This is something worth paying attention to when comparing head spa beds.
A specification sheet may show the total width of the equipment, but the client does not actually use the full external width.
Some of that space may be taken up by:
- thick side panels;
- armrests;
- the outer shell;
- reclining mechanisms;
- upholstery and padding.
So two beds with fairly similar overall dimensions can feel very different once someone actually lies down in them.
The dimensions printed in a catalog are not always the dimensions the client actually experiences.
Salon Owners Do Not All Agree — And That Is Useful Information
We actually like seeing mixed feedback like this.
It tells us that the product itself is not necessarily the problem. The bigger question is whether the model matches the salon and its customer base.
For one salon, a compact enclosed design may be ideal. It looks neat, takes up less room and creates a more immersive Head Spa experience.
For another salon, especially one serving a broad range of body sizes, a wider or more open design may make more sense.
There is no reason to pretend one model works for everyone.
For Distributors, Mention It Before the Customer Buys
If you are selling this style of head spa bed, this is the kind of detail that is better discussed before the order.
If one model is relatively compact, say so.
If another version has a wider seat or a more open structure, show the customer both.
A simple question can help:
“Would you prefer a compact design, or do you want more space for a wider range of clients?”
That is a much better conversation than waiting until the bed has been delivered and the salon owner suddenly says, “I didn’t realize it would feel this tight.”
For distributors, good product recommendations are often less about pushing one bestseller and more about helping different salons choose the right version.
A Product Does Not Have to Fit Everyone
There is also no need to turn this into a reason not to sell integrated head spa beds.
A product does not have to fit every possible client to be a good product.
It just needs to be sold to the right salon with the right expectations.
A smaller salon may actively prefer a compact model.
A Head Spa studio may love the more enclosed and immersive feeling.
A distributor serving larger commercial salons may decide to keep a wider option in the range as well.
That is actually a stronger product strategy than offering ten beds that look different but serve exactly the same customer.
What We Look At Besides the Catalog Dimensions
When we compare head spa beds for wholesale and distribution, we would normally want to understand:
- usable seat width;
- space between the side panels or armrests;
- usable width when reclined;
- overall length;
- recommended load capacity;
- client position during treatment;
- whether wider versions are available.
Real-life photos and videos with someone actually using the equipment can also tell you much more than another perfectly staged product image.
One Small Detail Can Make a Big Difference
Head Spa equipment is still developing quickly, and many new designs look fantastic.
But as more salon owners actually start using these products every day, small practical details become easier to see.
Client fit is one of them.
For distributors, paying attention to that feedback does not make the product harder to sell.
It helps you sell the right model to the right customer — which usually means fewer surprises after delivery and a better chance of repeat business.
